I am so excited to write this post, as it basically showcases one of the most creative things I think I've ever done. As somebody with the artistic skills of a rabbit, the prospect of designing a t-shirt for Boohoo & the Style for Stroke campaign was completely daunting. But thanks to a little help from my friend, fellow blogger and experienced fabric pen wielder Allie (Living Life in Docs), I'm really proud of what I've created.
A couple of weeks ago, Boohoo got in touch about taking part in Style for Stroke, a fantastic campaign which aims to raise awareness about stroke amongst younger people in the UK. The reputation strokes can only occur in older people is completely false, and in fact anybody can have one at any age or any time. This is such an important cause and I was thrilled to be asked to take part.
The t-shirt design had to revolve around the theme 'Famous Last Words', which could be anything at all. I went for an inspiring mantra, one which rests very close to my heart. I chose the words
Go Live Your Dream
I've been a daydreamer from a very young age, always dreaming of bigger things and impossible careers. I've also always been the biggest Disney fan; I was raised on movies which showcased dreams as being magical and possible.
I was often teased at school, with other girls saying that I was a loser and I'd never make anything of my life. Ever since I've been determined to prove them wrong.
My dreams are to become a West End actress and to publish a novel, which I'm sure you'll agree are very big goals. I believe it's always important to dream big, but even more important to work hard to make them come true. Sometimes, we all need a little motivation, and I hope that 'Go Live Your Dream' will help others to pluck up the courage and push themselves towards the life they want.
I drew up my design, got my fabric pens at the ready and after a few hours of hard work, my masterpiece was complete. And I have to say, I'm pretty proud of it. I've never done anything like this before and I think I succeeded in designing a shirt that I myself would personally buy in the shops.
I was sent a t-shirt which is two sizes too big for me (as you can probably tell!), so I styled it more like a dress than a t-shirt. Pairing it with some black tights, a pair of strappy heels and some statement earrings to create a casual, everyday look.
Crazy earring alert in the next picture!
A fantastic part of this campaign is that all the designs will be going up on the Boohoo website, where you will be able to vote for your favourite. The winner will be made into an ACTUAL T-SHIRT which you can buy, and will be added to the Style for Stroke 'Famous Last Words' Collection, alongside other celebrity designers such as Zoella and Niomi Smart. This would be an absolute dream come true for me and I'd absolutely love your support if you like my design! Not to mention I'd love a version in my size!
