Leaving Today

So, Ollie and I bought a castle...did I forget to mention that?

On the 5th May, I was lucky enough to finally go on my long-anticipated holiday to Walt Disney World in Florida aka the happiest place on Earth. My boyfriend and I saved all our hard earned pennies and flew off to Orlando for 10 days of beautiful sun, delicious food and, of course, a heck of a lot of Disney!

We spent the first day at Magic Kingdom (because you can't start a Disney holiday anywhere else really!), where we waited at the gates 40 minutes early! The wait certainly didn't kill the excitement.

Five minutes before the gates were to open, we were entertained as the residents of Main Street came out to greet us.

Before they were joined by some rather familiar faces...who's that mouse in the red...I recognise him but I just can't put my finger on it...

We counted down from ten, before the crowd surged through the open gates into the park. Luckily, I managed to get a snap of my favourite sign in Walt Disney World.

Cinderella's beautiful castle stood tall and proud in the glittering sunshine at the end of Main Street.

It was the perfect moment to tick an item off my bucket list.

Years and years ago, I decided that I would one day, whenever I found a man I loved, that I would have a photo taken of us kissing in front of the castle in Disney World. Of course, nearly two years ago, I found said man and dragged him to the Magic Kingdom.

This was the result.

And I have to say, I'm pretty flipping happy with it.

We moved on to New Fantasyland, specifically Gaston's Tavern, where I went for breakfast. I proceeded to consume a cinnamon roll the size of my face.

Are you serious about how big that is?!

We passed Rapunzel's tower on the way through...but she didn't seem to answer when I called. Perhaps she's out?

But it looked like Maximus had been having his way with some of the Kingdom's apples...

Exhausted by the heat, we went for a lovely row down the river in the Jungle Cruise. Our boat, also known as 'Amazon Annie' pulled up to the dock.

And we were given an extremely witty guided tour of the main jungles on Earth.

Although we encountered some dangers on the way, we were thankfully a bit luckier than these guys.

We sailed behind waterfalls.

And met some hilarious jungle creatures. This guy is a cutie!

Having pretty much become masters of the boat ship, we decided it was time to become proper pirates. Which obviously consisted of basic training, including the most important of all; hat wearing.

I couldn't resist a spin on Prince Charming's Carousel. You're never too old!

Before dinner, I think Goofy was having a bit of a flirt with me! Cheeky dog!

We ate at The Plaza Restaurant, where I had a huge grilled chicken, ham and swiss cheese sandwich.

Ollie had the chicken and strawberry salad, which he said was delicious. Believe the chef!

We then chose from the menu of ice cream related desserts.

A chocolate brownie sundae.

And my all time favourite; a classic banana split. Don't know if there was quite enough cream on it though...

As we left with our tummies pretty much bursting, the Main Street Electrical Parade was happening!

This was the most patriotic looking light up float I've ever seen!

After the parade ended and we were all left in darkness, there was a buzz of what I'm sure was a GIANT plug being pushed in its socket, and the whole of Main Street was lit up by dazzling lights.

We then all stood at the foot of the castle, ready for the 'Wishes' Firework Display, which was preceded by an amazing projection of lights on the castle walls. My favourite was 'Let it Go', from Frozen, obviously.

I held my camera high over the sea of hands and phone cameras that lay before me.

It was a magical end to a magical day. Of course we went back...but more on that later.
