Yesterday I had the pleasure of hanging out with two of my favourite girlies, Ellie and Lauren, for a spot of lunch. Lauren was adamant we try out Mildred's, a vegan and vegetarian restaurant in a little street in Soho. Now, ever since watching a video that contained some adorable cows in it I have been trying my best to stick to a pescatarian diet, so I was so excited to try out some proper vegetarian food!
When we arrived we were one of the first tables there, but within around half an hour the place was entirely full! We had a scan of the menus before ordering what can only be described as a feast for the table.
Ellie ordered up a hefty bowl of smashed avocado with lime, chilli and blue corn chips that looked amazing!
As well as what may or may not have given me major food envy; stir fried vegetables in shiitake, mirin, chilli, garlic and ginger with brown rice, tofu and toasted cashews! Phew, that was a mouthful (literally). It looked incredible and when I go back I'll 100% be ordering this!
We had fries with chipotle ketchup...
And I went for the soup of the day which was red lentil and sweet potato. It was delicious and heart warming on the rainy day!
Lauren had the black bean and tomatillo rice buritto with ranchero sauce and grilled cheese, smashed avocado, sour cream and pico de gallo. Again this looked absolutely amazing and I was very jealous.
Of course we couldn't leave without sampling a couple of the desserts! We ordered up two of the yummiest looking dishes on the menu; the chocolate peanut butter brownie with chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream...
...and the crumble of the day with homemade custard, which happened to be apple and mixed berry, one of my favourites! The only thing I didn't like was the custard. For some reason the flavour just didn't seem right to me!
Overall, Mildred's was an absolutely wonderful treat and I would highly recommend to any vegetarians and vegans that may be searching for a delicious restaurant! Make sure to get there quick if you fancy a spot of lunch, though! It fills up in no time (although I'm not surprised!).
Let me know in the comments if you've ever visited Mildred's before, and if there's anywhere in London or Brighton I should visit next!
