Black Magic
If there's one thing I'm famous for, it's cop-out fancy dress costumes. After caring far too much during my first year at university about my first ever freshers costume, only to see that people had fashioned theirs out of moving boxes and bedsheets, I realised that I probably didn't need to go to so much effort. Since then, it's been all about using up those bits and pieces that I already had in the wardrobe. So, when New Look got in touch and challenged me to create a Halloween look using pieces that could be used again in the future, I jumped at the chance to utilise my skills and create this slinky little number.
Yep, the cat costume is THE ONE when it comes to cop out Halloween costumes. You'll probably see minimum 64% of the female population dressed up as a ferocious feline this spooky season, but it's a classic for a reason! You can be any cat you want; sexy, scary or sophisticated. You do you girl!
The first item I chose was this gorgeous black slip dress that I fell in love with as soon as I saw it. It's a classic gorgeous addition to any wardrobe and I can definitely see myself layering it over blouses in the future or dressing up with a pair of stilettos.
I'm pretty sure it's an unwritten rule that you can't have Autumn without a pair of over-the-knee boots, right? These ones caught my eye due to the unique ombre black to clear heel. They give a statement without being too over the top which I love. I can 100% wear them casual with jeans or with a cute mini skirt.

Of course, what's a cat without her collar? I went for an adorable lace bow with a sweet little gem in the middle.
Also, before you ask, yes it was freezing taking these photos (although I've pretty much become immune now after sacrificing warmth for good photos) and yes it was in the middle of a pretty popular wooded park, so I got some fantastic looks from people who were wondering why there was a girl dressed as a cat hanging off a tree. All in a day's work, people.
I absolutely love this outfit, and to be honest if I took away the cat ears, painted cat face and choker I'd wear it on a night out! I absolutely adore black velvet and I can't wait to utilise these goodies more and more as the season progresses.
I would love to hear your thoughts on my cheeky cop-out glamorous kitty costume! New Look have such a fantastic range of Halloween themed goodies, and if you can wear it again, even better! If you're stuck for ideas, they also have a video on their website filled with Halloween ideas to choose from.
