Last weekend I was kindly invited down to the Vurger Co. in Shoreditch to give their all-vegan menu a whirl. As a head's up, I'm not actually a vegan myself, I'm a pescatarian but I would absolutely love to go full veggie one day. The idea of vegan food has kind of a reputation of being bland and no match for the original, and I've definitely experienced this before in restaurants, so I was intrigued to see how the Vurger Co. took on fast food while still keeping it yum.
As a huge milkshake fanatic, I was especially interested in trying their completely dairy free shakes. I mean, what's a milkshake without some thick, creamy ice cream in it right? Well, clearly I know nothing because these shakes were fantastic. They honestly tasted like normal milkshakes and if you hadn't told me they were vegan I would have never known. Even the whipped 'cream' on top was just like regular whipped cream. I was so impressed!
We also went for two burgers: the Original and the Big Mex. You have the option to add avocado to your burgers (which I loved), and they were both absolutely gorgeous. The Big Mex used jackfruit, a typical vegan substitute for pulled pork, and both of them had veggie based patties.
For sides we went for 50/50 fries (half regular, half sweet potato) and I was absolutely thrilled they did these because I'm always trying to decide what kind of fries to order. Again, they were delicious. We also had some of their house slaw which might be some of the best coleslaw I've ever had.
Overall, I was ridiculously impressed by the Vurger Co. and would 100% return. I hope they open more locations around London as I'm rarely in Shoreditch, but I think a central location would do so well. The food is excellent and it's so good to find vegan food that is actually amazing. Even if you're not a vegan but you're thinking of cutting back on your meat and dairy consumption, I'd recommend a trip here.
I'd love to know if you've ever eaten here, or if you have any other recommendations for vegan hotspots in London! x
