The Tea Files goes international once again, this time from a little known town called Las Vegas! You may remember from my City Guide for Vegas that during the press trip we had afternoon tea at the Waldorf Astoria, and as promised here is my full Tea Files review for it!
As we all know, I'm a bit of a stickler for a good afternoon tea. You get the good, the average and the ugly and I'm always 100% honest with you guys so you find the very best ones to go to!
So, is this tea worth it? Let's find out!
We arrived at the hotel and the afternoon tea is held in the Tea Lounge which has the most spectacular views of the strip. We were sat in a window table and it was just beautiful.
One thing I have to say is that the service here was absolutely impeccable, so a big thumbs up for that. Everything was also presented in the most beautiful bone china and it was all so pretty. I was very pleased that they kept the British traditions going even over in the States.
The hot chocolate was good, pretty much a normal one but nothing amazing.
They do also cater for vegans which is fab! Scarlett had the vegan afternoon tea and it was nice to see that there was something other than just the fruit on the plate.
The cakes that we were served were ok but a bit dry. It felt like they may have suffered from the classic case of day old cakes, when for an afternoon tea everything really does need to be made fresh.
The sandwiches were lovely to look at but again, sadly a little bit dry. The cakes and the sandwiches were the most disappointing part of the tea which was a shame!
However, the scones were absolutely perfect, served warm with lots of jams and clotted cream.
Overall, I'd say the afternoon tea at the Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas was ok. It suffers from some classic afternoon tea problems which can easily be fixed with just some fresher sandwiches and cakes which would really improve the whole experience, as they have a beautiful setting and some delicious scones. I'd give it a straight down the middle score.
